"Move over, Matt. I got this." (Zanney's Opinion on CCB Theme Songs)

The CCB Theme Song should be "Doobee Doowap Communication" by Babamania.

I know that right now you're all probably thinking that I'm just biased in favor of Rockman.exe, which is the anime this song was used in. I'm sure you will agree with me after you check out the music video and read the lyrics.

Lyrics:

Hi, I’m John from L.A. The west coast!
West coast Always Beautiful day
Early morning Surfing Party all day
Awesome Role playing game Jumping out Dub-a-dub
Adventure When you realize, it’s Ebisu
Yamanote Line People Full Smashed~
Sexy lady Everyone’s nice
This wonder land, Nice to meet you, What’s your name?

“How are you? What’s up?”
English schools Are crap
Ask, “Nani ga up suru?” [lit., what is upping?] Well, I’m standing up
Go to right? Go to left?
This way, that way, thatta way, which way?
First of all Just smile ”Yes!” Lesson1 Will begin!

Get it up, check it out, it’s on and on and on!

Look, ABC, however
If you sing, sing colorfully
Foreign culture communication
ME is going, you COMING!?
If you make a little mistake
Or even if you make a big one
If you feel like crying, Music
Play this song for everyone

SAKE SUSHI KABUKI Oky-doky!!

Surprise A lazy susan Cheers!
Give me one Cucumber roll Please

Try! Natto isn’t bad
I’ll have more than five of them Within two hours

Gari is ginger Agari is green tea
“Soy sauce” is shouyu or murasaki

The sushi chef rolls the neta It’s super fresh!
Round and round Happiness
Octopus? I think I’ll pass

Hamachi-how-much? [lit., how much is the yellowtail?]
Ikura de oikura desu ka? [lit., how much is the salmon roe?]
That’s how you’re courteous around here
“Me” is never really clear We don’t say “you” Yes or No?
Wabisabi [humble simplicity] is not the same thing as wasabi
Bow, shake hands, then Lesson2 Will begin!

Get it up, check it out, it’s on and on and on!

Look, ABC, however
If you sing, sing colorfully
It will surely resound I sing from your heart for everyone
The secret password
Can you hear me? Open your heart
Overflowing Music
Play this song for everyone

ABC, however
If you sing, sing colorfully
The magic spell
ME is going, you COMING!?
Even though I’m going,
You’re coming
If there is no Kami or Buddha, then there’s Jesus!
Play this song for everyone

Keep my feeling, ur feeling floating in da melody
together let da world see naturally
We’re born onto the same earth We happen upon a different skin color
Misunderstanding is born But if you believe in the smiles of others You can entrust your thoughts to our common sky
We bubbling, love and peace has just begun,
universe becoming one

Ichi ni san One two three
Yi er san Un deux trois
Foreign culture communication
ME is going, you COMING!?
If you make a little mistake
Or even if you make a big one
If you feel like crying, Music
Play this song for everyone

Look, ABC, however
If you sing, sing colorfully
It will surely resound You sing from my heart for everyone
The secret password
Can you hear me? Open your heart
Overflowing Music
Play this song for everyone

Not only is this song about cultural exchange between Japan and the United States (with a focus on my hometown of sunny Los Angeles, to boot!), but there's word-play--which I absolutely love--as well as a few tiny lessons for some common words you might hear from both Japanese- and English-speakers! I'd say that's pretty cool, wouldn't you?

In fact, I would say that this song is what I would consider the theme song for all of my fellow CCB members--who were my good friends first! Every time I hear Doobee Doowap Communication I think of our little group and I smile until my cheeks start to ache. This is our song, not the blog's song. And CCB started because we were all pals and wanted to write about our experiences at anime conventions in each of our respective hometowns and the entirety of our beautiful Golden State!

Furthermore, the video is really silly and reminds me of how crazy things can get while we're all preparing for the next convention. Some of the lyrics even resemble some of our blog in-jokes and funny stories we're going to tell until the end of time. Especially the part about everyone sitting around a table together for a big rowdy meal and a round of drinks. We do that at every Day Zero, and I'm so thankful for the pre-convention unwind that I'm not ashamed to admit it exists!

Even if this song isn't chosen, I'll add it to my "Con Jams" playlist until the day I can no longer attend events and local meet ups and all of my costumes have faded and frayed beyond recognition. Even when classic video games like Megaman and The Legend of Zelda vanish into quiet obscurity, I will still adore this song.

Whoa, this entry got kinda sappy toward the end, didn't it?
