Cosplay plans figured out?

So I've decided to ditch my plans for P3 cosplay come FanimeCon 2009.
This is what I'm doing now.

That's right, the GIRUGAMESH guy from the (in)famous Sakura-Con 2009 Commercial.
HELL YEA.
For those who have been living under a rock, here's the original:

That guy gave me the ultimate inspiration to cosplay as him. All I need is some makeup and we're all good.

I'll end this with what I'll do the whole entire weekend, or at least when I cosplay as him:

If it works for one....

I asked on the forums if Sac-Anime/Sac-Con would be getting a Twitter account like FanimeCon and AX; it would be a way to relay info before and during the con.

I find out that Imari-Chan joined the Twitter community to pass on announcements from the cosplay portion of the convention, which is really cool.

I guess we'll wait and see...

Masquerade Second Thoughts?

I said earlier that I wouldn't attend the masquerade.
But if you give me a chance, I might get into another skit at this year's Fanime.
Jessica (ranma12 on the forums) asked me to be part of her skit again.
I'm giving it some thought at the moment...

More HQ Reuploads?

I was comparing the quality on the two videos of the Dub Playback, and you can really tell how the reuploaded version in MPEG-2 easily beats the AVI version (the first uploaded video). Plus it's much faster to convert in Nero.

Unfortunately, I've lost the majority of the original source of many of the other videos. I was frantically looking for the original capture that had the "Crispin Freeman Goes Deep" part, but alas I didn't have it. So, no there won't be anymore HQ reuploads. However, do expect higher-quality video in the upcoming cons, both Fanime and Sac-Anime.

A Use For Twitter at the Con

After caving into the Twitter craze, I've actually found some good uses for Twitter come con time.
For one, I will be "twittering" at the con, giving up-to-the-minute information on where I am and what I'm doing. I've also linked my RSS feed on this blog to Twitter via twitterfeed, meaning when I post on the blog It'll let people on Twitter know within half an hour.

We're coming up on the end of March, meaning two months before FanimeCon...

Dub Anime Panel Playback HQ Reupload

So with the success of putting up H.264 video on YouTube, I've decided to try and re-upload some of the Sac-Anime Summer '08 vids.

Here's one.

Twitter Me!

I have finally joined the site Twitter! This will allow me to post things convention-wise, as well as things that go on in my life (kind of like an extra insight into my life).

Please, please, PLEASE follow me! Link and current status on the sidebar.

Keeping Cosplaying Simple

I really want to do a new cosplay for Fanime, but I don't want to be spending as much as I have in the past. It would also be nice if I only needed one piece of the cosplay and not a whole set.

I'm looking at the standard uniform from P3, throw on my black khakis and call myself a Gekkoukan High School student. Again, I'm not in the mind frame of being an actual character, but myself in a different setting.

10...10...10 Dollar Pre-Reg

Hey, $10 pre-reg for Sac-Anime this week only!
I went ahead and went for the $25 reg, color program guide, and t-shirt! That's $5 less than at-the-door reg!
Hurry up though, this only lasts until next Tuesday!

Pre-Reg Paid

With the end of March approaching quickly, so does the opportunity to pre-reg.
So I decided to pay to get that out of the way.

The Radisson?

I'm checking my e-mail via BlackBerry, and I come along an e-mail with the subject "Sacanime at the Radisson."

And it's true. Sac-Anime is moving to the Radisson Hotel.

And it's about freakin' time it moved to a new venue given the fact the overcrowding issues that have risen.

But...the con drops a day, Friday. Now it's just a Saturday and Sunday con.

I'm still waiting and seeing if they will offer any special rates at the Radisson. I'd like to stay there just to see how the hotel is.

So far, I'm really loving this move.

Formulating a Fanime Plan

It's March, which means FanimeCon is not that far off the radar. This means I have to start figuring what to bring and what to do.

Well I know one thing: it won't involve the Masquerade.

You may be asking "But why Matthew? Why skip the Masquerade?"

I have a couple of reasons.

1) It's very time consuming as the audience. I learned this from Sac-Anime back in January; instead of attending the Masquerade I was able to eat, talk to my friend, and then game. People stand in line for hours waiting to get in, then sit for hours as the Masquerade goes on. In that time, I could of done a ton, using up my time instead of waiting then watching.
2) With the majority of Masquerade videos going online, I can watch in blocks instead of a marathon.
3) It's becoming the same shit. The same wisecrack joke, hi jinks, dancing, "let's do yaoi" (and by that I mean fan pairings) skit. Now I'm not saying that everything is shit, there are some gems among the pile but not enough to endure a whole Masquerade.
4) I'm not in it this year.

More time to hang out, more time to eat, more time to not be stuck sitting.

Reuploading YT Vids?

With YouTube's ability to view high-quality video, I have more options now when it comes to video quality. I experimented with Nero, and I found out that one saving format gives both a low-quality and high-quality option when uploaded to YouTube. To see an example, go to the FanimeCon Blog and check out the Pre-Tournament video from the MT3DX Tourney at SVGL.

I really do want to re-upload all of these videos, but I'll probably save that for the next Sac-Anime. I'm still thinking on it though...

New Design

OK, it's not really a new design, but I expanded the post columns to make it fit more near the full page instead of being condensed. I did not like it condensed, so I'm really digging the new expanded look.

Expect more tweaks as we go along, especially as we get close to Fanime.

...Wait, what?

OK, so Sac-Con March 2009 is next week.

...wait, what? Next week?

That means I won't be coming because I have work. Sorry people.
