Sac-Con Dec. 2007 Report

Ah, the last Sac-Con of the year, the last one before Sac-Anime in January. For many of us, this is a time to fine-tune our costumes and acting skills (via the Cosplay Contest) for the huge show in January.

I must say that the quality of guests is improving rapidly - especially when Doug Jones, the man who played Silver Surfer in the 2nd Fantastic Four movie, is in the house. Unforunately, he was charging $20 an autograph, and I all I wanted as for him to sign my badge, something that I should of started back in January of this year. Then again, that's the norm of comic conventions, and to anime convention attendees who usually get their autographics for free it's a bit of a shock.

The cosplay contest was good again, and whoever thought of using Phoenix Wright with a skit to explain the rules of the contest is brilliant. Seriously, that should be done at the January show. I only have three videos, though, that I recorded off my camera - that skit, the last candy giveaway, and when we all sang Sac-Con's version of "The 12 Days of Christmas." I have the last two up, and after some talk with the group who did the beginning skit I got the green light to post it on YouTube; however, it's in maintainence mode so I'll have to wait until tommorrow.

I'm also trying to get all the photos (OVER 400!) online, so that will be up soon. Expect a post with some of my favorite shots soon.

Added Flyer for Sac-Con Dec. '07

Digital Camera

Thank god for Black Friday.

I was able to get ahold of a 7.2MP Sony Cyber-shot digital camera for real cheap - $80. I finally got myself a decent camera that won't suck on me.

We're Definately Going Two...

I'm close on obtaining a FMA costume for Sac-Anime in January, so definately I will be wearing that to FanimeCon. Now the question is if I should go three or even four if my finances play out to my favor.

Odds are, I could go three, but probably the rest will go towards getting a room (which I didn't have to worry about the first time I went, at least at full price) and registration.

Dec. 9th

Apparently, Sac-Con for December is actually on Dec. 9th, not Dec. 2nd which I thought was the date. This is good since I found out this early, so I was able to adjust my time off accordingly.

Either than that, I am looking into a FMA costume.

Evolution of the Director

I keep forgetting to post about this...

My late late late late birthday gift came in. I got me an AEG airsoft rifle in the form of a MP5SD6, a carrying case, dual shoulder pistol holsters, and a spare mag for the MP5.

I posted that I was looking to ditch my belt holsters for the shoulder holsters. I did a test run today and I felt much comfortable around the waist. I may have to get my jacket tailored so that it expands a bit more, but that depends on how much it all costs and my decision if it's all worth it.

I will be trying this new configuration in the December, and then make changes for the January show.

Meanwhile, I'm also in the process of obtaining a new costume...I hope to put in an order sometime in November.

Double Tree Hotel

So, I'm at the Double Tree Hotel in Sacramento for a Community College Leadership Conference.

If you don't know, across the street from the Red Lion Inn is the Double Tree Hotel.

Personally, I think that if Sac-Anime wants to go back to a hotel for Summer 2008, it should come here. After all, this Double Tree is known for hosting such conventions, including the much publicized Star Trek Con that rolled by a year or two ago (I know it did though, I just don't remember when it happened). Compared to the Red Lion Inn, the Double Tree Hotel is much nicer and would still be a good site to hold Sac-Anime.

'08 Registration

Registration for FanimeCon '08 is up. Price right now if $40 until November 1st.

I want to pull the trigger and do it, but I may have to wait; someone might accompy me to Fanime and probably I'll pay for them...

So, for now I'll wait.
