ALA 6 (2010) Report: Part 1 - Prologue

I found out quickly that Sac-Anime Winter 2010 and Anime Los Angeles 6 would share the same date - January 8th though the 10th - at Sac-Anime Summer 2009. I had a hard choice to make now: either go to the con that I always gone to, or spend a bit more money to experience a new con. After some deliberation and an accidental booking, I decided to choose ALA 6 or Sac-Anime Winter 2010. Besides, I have to learn soon enough on how to fly to a con and this could be my way of learning before having to fly down there again for either Anime Expo 2010 and/or ALA 7 in 2011 and/or any other out-of-state-con that I have to fly to. Plus, this was my first SoCal convention since AX 2002 so I'm pretty excited to start up my SoCal tour. Oh, and one more thing: the weather. The weather up in Sacramento the week leading up to ALA was cold and damp, and after watching how beautiful SoCal looked though the 2010 BCS National Championship Game on TV, I knew that I would be in a warmer place.

ALA 2010 Vlog Post-Con - Thoughts on Cosplay Chess and Host Club

Signed Business Card & Chibi Badge, ALA 2010 Edition

As a tradition, I try to get as much Guests of Honor to sign my business card as I attempt to network. Anyways, I got three this year - Kyle Hebert, Stephen Weese, and Lauren Landa. On a side note, as I as going through the program guide to look up these names, I find Jared, Victoria, Deb, and Stan under the "Program Participants" section - they even have their own spots for autographs! The first thing I thought is "How can I get my name and bio for 2011?"

I also found the lady who I get my chibi badges from. Because of what happened with my Persona 3 uniform at FanimeCon when it didn't come in on time, I couldn't get a chibi badge of it and instead had to settle for another Ouran chibi badge which is on the 2010 edition of my business card. But finally I was able to get what I wanted over half a year ago:

I love her work, and thanks for putting out such an amazing product time and time again. That makes six chibi badges total, and I will post all six sometime soon.

ALA 6 (2010) Review Status

Don't worry, my review of ALA 6 (2010) is coming soon...I'm still waiting on a number of things to appear on the internet (like I've been mentioning over and over) and I haven't put some of my thoughts on things that I did over the weekend. I've finally got back to normal after passing out Monday and today from exhaustion, so in the coming days I should be rolling them out.

FanimeCon 2010 Room Booked!

I have booked my room for FanimeCon 2010!
I will be back at the Marriott (with my free internet) and I will be staying Thursday to Monday, meaning I will be attending Day Zero!

ALA 2010 Photos Up

The photos that I took from ALA are up. They're not sorting the way I want them to sort, but they are all online now.
Now, where the hell are the Cosplay Chess videos?

Future of Con Vlogging Update

So based upon the latest video that I put up, I can determine that it's not the camera but on the internet connection that I'm on. This leads me to believe that maybe a mobile broadband card may be the way to go from here on out. At least I can do post-con videos and full video reviews from the comfort of my own home or at least some place where I know the connection is stable.

This is journey of a convention blogger to an anime convention that he's never gone before. These are the stories and photos that come with this 62 hour marathon at a somewhat medium sized Los Angeles con with a young history and a bright future...

ALA 2010 Non-Vlog Day Three - Morning

First off (as mentioned on Twitter), no more vlogs from here on out... on shitty internet connections *cough*airportandhotel*cough* that seem to cut out at least half of the video. I'm going to leave them on though because of some relevant information from that vlog.

This doesn't mean I'm done with vlogging. Like I mentioned on Twitter, I may not have the same problem when I'm at my home connection. I'm probably going to do a full ALA video review from this same webcam. If I get the same problems on my home connection, then I'm getting a different webcam for FanimeCon 2010.

Anyways, it's been a long night and we still have one more day to go...lots more to do for people and a little visit to a known Los Angeles landmark...
