FanimeCon 2009 Report: Part 1 - Prologue

As with most of my reports, I start at the way beginning, back when I posted the epilogue for the FanimeCon 2008 Report the Friday after. I stated that "I think of this as a tradition now to come down to Fanime. I hope next year the people that I know will be here, and that Fanime will continue to grow and grow as a convention while still keeping that personal touch." I made sure that I would be attending in 2009, booking my hotel room the first day the hotel booking website was active and purchasing my badge early.

I found out quickly that this would be a con of firsts. The first time I wouldn't go to the Masquerade, the first time I would give away prizes via Twitter, the first time I would actually cosplay down to the convention instead of changing at the con were just some of the firsts that I encountered during the weekend.

I also knew that this con would be amazing. As I said before, "there's going to be some amazing things come Fanime, things I've never done before with the potential for awesome."

...but I didn't know that it would be this amazing.
